Volunteer Car Scheme
Overview of Service
What is it?  A taxi-like service, used when no other transport arrangement can be made.

How is it provided?  By volunteer drivers who use their own transport.  They pick up the client from their home, take them to their appointment and bring them back home.

Who can use it?
Those who have no access to transport of their own, and difficulty accessing public transport.  Further if a person is temporarily unable to drive, perhaps for medical reasons, they would also be eligible to use the service

Where?
From the passenger's home, to pre-booked destinations, e.g. to attend medical appointments.

When?
As required.

How much?
There is a small charge of 40p per mile to cover the volunteers' cost of fuel.
